The exhibition Mark Work celebrates the joy of mark making in all its forms - stamping, brushing, smearing, rubbing, hammering, tracing. The ability to create through spontaneous and experimental action.
As part of Mark Work, Objectspace is hosting a rolling cast of tutors for a series of drawing sessions.
Each tutor will suggest alternative ways of tackling a drawing, taking inspiration from the different processes seen in the exhibition.
Mia Straka will lead this session focussing on a series of quick fire drawing exercises responding to works, ideas and processes within Mark Work. Playing in both two and three dimensions and incorporating wire and flat surfaces, participants will create drawing studies by engaging with each other and Objectspace.
All materials will be provided. Sessions are 90 minutes long. Suitable for participants aged 12 years and over.
Mia Straka is an Auckland based artist working mainly in the field of contemporary jewellery, based at Workshop6 studio in Grey Lynn. Through her practice she explores jewellery’s power to express ideas and thoughts in the physical realm and the ability to communicate on both a personal and public level.
