Through photography and moving image, In the image of the city documents the margins of our built environments to reveal how urban edges function as complex frontiers of resource, community, and ecology.

Dr Kathy Waghorn is co-director of HOOPLA, a Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland based ‘ultra-local’ practice carrying out urban research for place advocacy. Alongside this work, she develops exhibition projects that investigate contemporary architectural practice, making opportunities for wide public engagement with issues in the built environment. Waghorn is an Associate Professor in architecture at Monash University in Naarm Melbourne, where she is a member of the Monash Urban Lab.

Kim Paton has been the Director of Objectspace since 2015. Her interest is in interdisciplinary exhibition making across the fields of craft, design, architecture and contemporary art. Paton has curated and written extensively on object-based art forms. In 2024 she was awarded the Garvey Cup by Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects.
