Ring Redux presents more than 100 avant-garde rings by internationally renowned artists who have researched this ancient form of jewelry with great intensity and relevance for today. In the accompanying essay “Riffs on Rings,” Ursula Ilse-Neuman provides an overview of the varied designs of this most enduring form of body jewelry. She describes how the artists express the potential of the ring - and thus go beyond the purely ornamental function. The artistry and boldness of the sculptural forms are reflected in breathtaking color photographs created specifically for the publication. With the “Artists' Voices”, the jewelry artists also provide valuable insights into the conception and execution of their works. Acquired over five decades by Susan Grant Lewin, the collection presented here is now on display at the SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah, Georgia.
