50/50 — For Makers and Objectspace

Half for Makers, Half for Objectspace.
Half from You, Half from Match-Givers.

Give once, and see your impact in two directions: to the makers, and to the space that supports them.

We are fundraising with Boosted to support both our ambitious programming and the spaces that hold it. And speaking of ambition, we have upped the ante and need to raise $80,000 by 15 June.

Thanks to our generous match-givers, your donation will be doubled – you’ll be boosting both makers and Objectspace and supporting the future of design, craft and architecture in Aotearoa.

The Team

Objectspace is the only public gallery in Aotearoa focused on craft, design and architecture.

We are a unique organisation spanning two venues nationally, in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland and Ōtautahi Christchurch.

Established in 2004 by a prominent group of craftspeople, curators and advocates, Objectspace has grown year-on-year, opening landmark exhibitions, touring exhibitions globally, providing direct support to and advocacy for Aotearoa makers and hosting more than 100 events a year across the islands.

The Funding

Where does the money go?

For 50/50 we’re splitting the bill.

50% raised will go to our makers: to commission works and shows from the artists we serve – the people pushing craft, design and architecture forward in Aotearoa.50% raised will go to Objectspace’s operational budget: to help us run our spaces, cover the staffing needs of our growing exhibition and event programme, and plan for the future.

The Details

Why we're fundraising:

We all know it’s a tough climate for arts funding (and overall!) out there. We also know how important it is for artists, makers and arts organisations to be well resourced. As a public gallery, all our exhibitions and almost all of our events are free to attend – everyone is welcome, and Objectspace is known for our ambitious shows and warm hosting. This is made possible through incredible support from our core funders and our sponsors, partners and giving collectives.

Each year, we aim to broaden our audience and community to deepen our impact and connect with more people who can support our work in many ways, big or small. This year, we’ve teamed up with Boosted again to raise funds for our makers and our organisational budget, to keep doing the great work we do.

The Impact

What we're raising through Boosted will be shared FIFTY FIFTY: Half for Makers. Half for Objectspace.

That’s double the impact – supporting both our ambitious programme and the spaces that hold it. And thanks to five extraordinary match-donors, we’re half-way there. This means every dollar you give is also doubled, so if you’ve ever thought about supporting Objectspace, now is the time!

Half your donation will go towards artist fees and commissions.

The other half will support the spaces in which it all happens: sometimes exciting stuff -  exhibition design and build, event costs (to enable them to remain free or less than the price of a glass of wine), sometimes the "boring" but real stuff that we need to make the programme magic happen – think rent, bills, storage, freight.

All combined, our fundraising efforts enable independent, ambitious and visionary programming and much needed advocacy for design, craft and architecture from and for Aotearoa.
