Show_sell_shift marks the first show in Objectspace’s history where works of locally, handcrafted ware will be for sale in the gallery. This one-off exhibition will feature works from an extraordinary range of leading New Zealand artists, makers and designers with a focus is on functional and accessibly priced objects that people want to use and will love in their everyday life, raising the awareness of the incredible breadth of work being handmade in craft, applied art and design disciplines in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Makers include Monmouth Glass, Ben Pyne, Ruth Castle, Raewyn Walsh, Maca Bernal, Nate Savill, Emily Siddell, Paul Melser, Vanessa Arthur, Amanda Shanley, Shelley Norton, Rachel Carley and group contributions from The Jewellers Guild of Greater Sandringham, Whau Studios and Auckland Studio Potters.

Local weaver and designer Christopher Duncan of Tur will present a curated garment selection of locally produced fashion, alongside handmade garments selected for the exhibition. There will also be a one-off pop-up fashion event run by AUT design collective, C.C.O. Objectspace will also bring together a specially curated selection of craft and design books from a range of New Zealand writers in the sector.

With an expanding team, increased public interest and as the gallery unfolds new developments in research and exhibition-making in the field of craft, design and applied arts, the need for Objectspace to move to a larger building has become pressing. Show_sell_shift marks the first project in what will be an extended period of fundraising and development for Objectspace, a unique one-off exhibition to launch our greater fundraiser effort.
