Graphic designer Belinda Ellis has embarked on a project to create a collection graphic icons of New Zealand history and culture.

Ellis catalogues New Zealand's popular culture and identity, celebrating the idiosyncrasies of our national self. Her suite of icons pays tribute to those things that make this country unique, and that we have made our own – our 'kiwitanga', our quintessential customs, artefacts, landscape and people.

Here, Objectspace showcases a selection of Ellis's favourites from each of the five categories, Heritage and Culture, Popular Culture, Cuisine, The Natural World, and people, within the ICONZ collection.
