Alliance Graphique Internationale Special Project: Kōrero

Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) is coming to Objectspace for a short-run exhibition staged alongside the AGI Open design conference (18–19 September at Aotea Centre).

AGI is an association of graphic designers from across the globe, with membership currently at 512 designers collectively representing 46 countries. Each year members convene in a different city for the member AGI Congress and the public AGI Open. This year, for the first time ever, these events are landing in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

The so-called “Special Project” is an important part of the annual AGI Congress. It’s a thematic design project open to all AGI members, new and existing, whether they can make it to the Congress or not. As an organisation AGI reflects many countries, many languages, and many different lived experiences, all of which are reflected in the constantly evolving language of design.

Kōrero

1. (verb) to tell, say, speak, read, talk, address
2. (noun) speech, narrative, story, account, discussion, conversation, discourse, statement, information.

For this year’s special project, AGI brings a myriad of design approaches together to kōrero. International members were invited by AGI Aotearoa to design a poster with the 'Kōrero' theme, featuring two words in any language, to be printed in white ink on heavyweight A1 Fedrigoni Sirio Black stock by local design and production company Blink. The resulting posters now come together in conversation at Objectspace for a limited time.
