Kohna Zari Ko Craft & Mending Pop Up

Join us for a mending pop up with the women behind Kohna Zari Ko, a local social enterprise focused on craft and sustainability.

Based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Kohna Zari Ko brings together migrant and refugee women who have a passion for sewing.

Offering an alternative to fast fashion and a focus on sustainability, Kohna Zari Ko means to turn old to gold.

For this event at Objectspace, group members will be able to take care of simple repairs – a button that’s fallen off, a dropped hem or a small hole - while you wait and offer advice if you have something more complex.

Kohna Zari Ko is also known for transforming treasured fabrics into something new. An unused table cloth or preloved skirt could become a coin purse, cushion cover or tote bag. Bring along some fabric and talk through how it could be given a new life.

Along with mending, the group will have items for sale including quilts, embroidered pieces and gifts. Come and find the perfect handmade present for Christmas!
