Also a highly-respected author and teacher – Künzli's work has had international influence within the field of jewellery making. Artists such as Karen Pontoppidan, Karl Fritsch, David Bielander and Lisa Walker are amongst the graduates of the jewellery class at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, which Künzli has been directing since 1991. Künzli is both colleague and friend to renown New Zealand jeweller Warwick Freeman.
