Drinks on the Berm: a workshop about berms, on a berm, to imagine the future of berms and other urban oddities in Tāmaki Makaurau.

This event is part of Material Acts: a two-day event that offers the opportunity for architecture practitioners, students and enthusiasts to join workshops and discussions with those working in material innovation, presented by The AUT Material Cultures Lab.

This event sits within the theme of Grounded Methods which explores methods and ideas that reckon with physical ground—its forms, movements, autonomies, dependencies, histories, colonisations and contentions.

In this workshop facilitated by Tessa Forde and Nick Sargent we invite participants to help us re-imagine and temporarily activate a grass berm near Objectspace.

Grass berms are an example of a type of default urban object that is reproduced globally without consideration for local specificity, but on closer look reveal surprising spatial complexities and opportunities. Join us to participate in this temporary activation and to learn more about missed opportunities and emerging potentials in the production of urban space.

Hospitality will be provided.

Other Material Acts event sessions are listed on our website and are free and open to all.
