The Future of Objectspace in Ōtautahi Christchurch

Craft, design and architecture across the islands throughout 2024

In March this year, we moved into 65 Cambridge Terrace, Christchurch, with the aim of creating a space to celebrate design and architecture in a city renowned for these disciplines.

We were inspired by the difference of the site (to our comparatively large Auckland gallery in a shelled out industrial building) and by the challenge of programming in conversation with the history and design of Sir Miles Warren's iconic building and garden.

We can't thank you enough for your warm and spirited welcome.

March 2024 will mark a year in the space and we're thrilled to announce we're extending our stay for the duration of 2024 (at least!). We'll kick off with a version of the major architecture exhibition KOHA: The speculative worlds of Rewi Thompson in February.

We couldn't have pulled off our programme to date without the pioneering supporters of Objectspace in Ōtautahi. Our deep gratitude to The Warren Trust, Christchurch City Council, Hughes Developments, Cemac Commercial Interiors, Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects, Athfield Architects and Karen & Hamish Doig. It's with your support that we leap into 2024. We also welcome Boffa Miskell and Brookfield as leaders in our Ōtautahi supporter community – it's great to have you with us.

We look forward to welcoming you to further programming in our architectural outpost in Ōtautahi, and to showing the best of craft, design and architecture across the islands throughout 2024.
