Contemporary carving

 

Sharon Painter-Arps uses contemporary carving to comment on the pain and discomfort women put themselves through in the name of beauty. By using stone, she renders the objects 'unwearable' and enhances the expression of tensions around social and sexual conformity.

 Sharon has been a practising carver since 1994, and graduated from Monash University in Melbourne with a Master of Fine Art in 2005.
