Objectspace is dedicated to positioning making - principally in the fields of craft, applied arts and design - within a range of cultural, economic and social frameworks in order to provoke new assessments about the making, functioning and value of works and practices. Through a programme of exhibitions, events, publications and partnerships Objectspace aims to create new opportunities for outstanding practitioners, generate critical discourse, support professional development, connect communities of makers, writers, collectors and supporters and advance the interests of the sector nationally and internationally. Objectspace is administered by the Objectspace charitable trust. 2010 board members are Warwick Freeman (Chair), Octavia Cook, Andrew Grigg, Kim Meek, Anna Miles, Rigel Sorzano, Roger King, Paul Priddey, supported by a range of specialist advisors and a small staff. Since opening in 2004 Objectspace has received a number of awards as well as national and international recognition. The success and future of Objectspace depends on a mix of public, private and self generated support. The Friends of Objectspace is an opportunity for supporters to directly contribute to our unique initiative. Objectspace receives major funding from Creative New Zealand and generous support from Pasquale Viticultura and the Objectspace donors. Objectspace has received support from the ASB Bank Trust, Auckland City, Sky City Auckland Community Trust, The Cube, The Lion Foundation, The Lou & Iris Fisher Charitable Trust and The Southern Trust. |
